As many organizations have discovered, implementing an SAP system is costly, time-consuming, and complex. The wide range of available SAP implementers, each with its own methods and processes, makes the installation process even more problematic.

Too often, the first stage of that process focuses on the implementation itself, with the need for thorough testing seriously underestimated or altogether ignored. In such cases, the pain of unsatisfactory quality is usually quick to make itself felt once the system moves into production. Furthermore, the prospect of upcoming hot fixes, patches, and upgrades raises additional concerns about the organization's lack of a structured test approach and a well-maintained set of tests. Organizational users with expertise in its business processes usually become well informed SAP users. However, they rarely possess the experience and knowledge required to address those concerns by organizing an effective structured testing process.
