Latest Voice Technology Dramatically Reduces Operational Costs
Since the late 19th century, when the first US assembly lines loaded warehouses with finished goods, workers in product packing and shipping have been moving inventory from storage facilities to the marketplace. For many years, the only means of tracking the progress of the moving product was to have a worker follow the trail of each item using a simple list, hand-written or printed on paper. Not until the late 1970s did barcode scanning technology change the paper-only method to a combination of paper and scanning. Worker productivity soared. By adding barcode scanning, supply chain managers realized a tremendous return on investment, one that no other technology has been able to provide to that industry until today.
